DFO has issued a tender in Nova Scotia for holding, rearing, and genetically managed captive breeding of Atlantic Whitefish, including any wild-caught young-of-year collected during the project. The contractor must operate a suitable local facility within Nova Scotia, about 100–150 km from the collection site, with recirculating aquaculture systems, year-round water control, fail-safe backup power/alarm systems, veterinary support, and staff available 7 days a week. Work also includes genetic marker panel development and breeding strategy support.
