Development of a transportable Optical Ground Station

Design, build, and demonstrate a transportable optical ground station prototype for DND/CAF that can link with LEO satellites at 1 Gbps or more, operate in harsh Arctic conditions, and be deployed on unprepared terrain. The work includes modular optical hardware, autonomous tracking, remote monitoring, environmental protection against snow/ice/rain, onboard power management, and rapid setup by two people. The station should support interoperability with multiple optical standards and may later evolve toward 10 Gbps and quantum communications.
